Product Description

There have been many different princes of Persia, but now the one from the classic The Sands of Time trilogy (and the new movie) returns for his greatest adventure yet.

The kingdom of the Prince's older brother is under siege and as a last ditch effort to save it the sands of time are unleashed once again. The Prince's usual acrobatic skills will only get him so far this time, as you face more dangerous enemies and an army of the undead.

To help you on your quest you've a whole range of elemental powers to master, as you turn water fountains into ice columns to clamber up or upgrade abilities such as a tornado summons into devastating attacks. You'll need every power you can get too as you take on giant monsters and fight dozens of enemies at a time. The real next generation Prince of Persia has finally arrived and it's fit for a king.

Key Features

  • Royal Command: A direct sequel to The Sands of Time and influenced by the look of the new Disney blockbuster movie, the true prince of platformers returns.
  • Second Chance: Rewind time whenever you want to escape from certain death or tackle cunning puzzles and deadly enemies.
  • Classic Elements: New elemental powers let you turn water to ice, summon tornadoes or create impenetrable shields.
  • Crowd Control: New combat engine lets you take on up to 50 enemies at one time with a flexible and intuitive new combo system.
  • Picture Book Prince: Stunning visuals and cinematic action create a game world on a scale you've never seen before and yet all clearly set in the classic Prince of Persia universe.

really fun game but its so different from the ps3 version and I cant get all the consoles out there just to get another version of this game i wish the designers wouldn't make different formats of the same game so different but i have no complaints other than that

4 out of 5 stars Great game, but amazon's description is for the Sands of Time not The Forgotten Sands!   June 3, 2010

Firstly, ignore Amazon's product description as this (and the images) are for the Sands of Time. But what you can take on board is that this is a great game on the Wii.

The puzzles are varied from easy to challenging. You aquire three skills along the way: a spirit hook to allow you to grab onto walls, a whirlwind to raise you up higher than you can jump, and an orb that allows you to jump into mid air and float. While these give you the option to choose for yourself how to get from A to B (and avoid various obstacles - saws, spikes, darts, electrified arials, poisonous plants, etc.), the game story is quite linear and where you are supposed to go is subtley signposted by extra 'life' and markings on the walls. There's even a very basic hint system if you really get stuck.

There are plenty of minor enemies to beat and the bosses (of which there are too few) are relatively easy to beat, but there is enough variation in the locations and settings to keep your interest up.

For me, it loses a star because the camera (although moveable) occaisionally doesn't point in the exact place you are facing, and you can end up jumping in the wrong direction and getting killed as a result. However, once you're used to it, it's not a major problem.

Overall, I would definitely recommend the game (about 12 hours playing time).

This is not the same as the PS3 or Xbox 360 versions apparently and I've been fortunate enough to have been playing this version for a week or so now.

First thing you'll notice is that it looks great. Lush settings and the protagonists stand out as clear as a bell as you battle, run, climb and generally whizz about the place. The sound is OK as well, nothing special but in keeping with the scenario.

The fighting appears to have been adapted specifically for the wiimote/numchuck combination and if I have one criticism it is that it can get a bit tiring in some of the bigger and more complicated battles and puzzles, but in a strange way that could be seen as a strength as well as it properly engages you in the game and is probably a bit more realistic compared to the button pushing and knob twiddling (!) on other consoles.

There are a few new powers and combos that open up as you progress and these took a bit of getting used to as eventually the game becomes more free form as these powers mean you don't always have to stick to the scripted route through rooms and other areas. This is good fun, but if you're like me, prepare to die... a lot!

There is a two player cooperative mode where you can combine to solve some of the puzzles and fight the bad guys but there was no online play on my version (I'll let you guess why) so I don't know if the retail version will allow online play or not.

There are some control issues (when aren't there with the wii?) as some of the more complicated moves and combos require precision pointing and this was sometimes lacking. I wasn't using a new motion sensor so I don't know if that would help.

As I say, I've been playing this off and on for a week and haven't got to the end yet. There are also side quests that open up so I think that this game should keep you amused for some time after purchase and at Amazon's price it looks to be a good deal. (I'm not an Amazon plugger by the way!)

So if the only console you have is the wii then this is one of the better adventure/action games you can get so buy it with confidence. If you have another console as well this is still worth getting both for the different style of game play and also because it is a completely separate and stand alone adventure.

9/10 allowing for the control glitches but on the Amazon ratings I'll give it 5 stars as one of the best of the genre on the wii
