Product Description

Borderlands sends up to four co-op players to the harsh frontier planet Pandora in search of a mysterious Alien Vault. Featuring unique first-person role-playing shooter gameplay, you'll customise your character as you explore and battle enemies in frantic first-person shooter combat.

And what would a role-playing shooter be without loot? Borderlands groundbreaking content generation system creates a near endless variety of weapons and items to customise your character! Players can join and leave other players' games at any time, or choose to face the challenges of Borderlands alone. All these features combine with a deep, rich fiction and a bold art style to create a breathtaking experience that challenges the conventions of modern shooters...

  • Co-Op Design: Borderlands is built from the ground up to be an exciting, intuitive co-operative experience for up to four players simultaneously that rewards players who work together and invest in co-op skills. Split-screen is also supported.
  • FPS Gameplay: In this role-playing shooter, choose one of four distinct characters, each with their own individual skill sets. As your character grows throughout this fast-paced FPS, you choose and customise your abilities to suit your style of play!
  • Art Style: The distinctive art style combines traditional rendering techniques with hand-drawn textures to paint a bold and eye-catching spin on the FPS genre.
  • Vehicular Combat: Jump behind the wheel and engage in high-speed vehicle-to-vehicle combat, complete with spectacular explosions and road-killed Skags!
  • Frontier Planet: Search the wasteland planet of Pandora for the legendary Alien Vault. Fight your way through bandits, discover nine native (and aggressive) creatures, and help the few settlers on the planet in your search for a Vault rumoured to contain a great prize - if it even exists!

4 out of 5 stars Borderlands   July 13, 2010
David Jones (Somerset)
When my son got this game everyone was raving about it. However, it didn't grab me at first, it seemed a bit dull. I am writing this now (some tim elater), having played through the game both offline and on and I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed. We got the Zombie Island map too and that was a hoot. I suppose it depends what you want from a game. If you want photo realistic graphics or an epic and involved storyline this may not be for you. If you want a game that is good fun to play with a lot of stuff to shoot and a lot of stuff to shoot it with you may enjoy this. The graphics are done in a comic book style and to my mind look pretty good. My main issue with the game is it was way too short. You can play through again and level up further but its not the same as having new missions - you've done it all before. I have spent a fair amount of time playing online which again is good fun. My advice, if you want a fun shoot em up game get this (especially as it is coming sown in price), if you want an epic story where it takes an age to get anywhere and ammo is severely limited get Fallout 3 (incidentally I hated that game).

3 out of 5 stars BorderLands   June 20, 2010

I have to say this game isnt what I expected it to be, I waited so long for this and it was a let down. The graphics in the ad's looked amazing and in game they look to cartoonish

The guns in this game are another story, This is what kept me playing all the new guns and weird things they all do it did indeed keep me playing just to try collect alot of them!

- The downloadable content was good not to great but what can you do about it.
The story line in the game is dull. Not much behind it. Meet someone kill something, That is the whole storyline

5 out of 5 stars Rip-roarin' gun-totin' five star fun!   June 10, 2010
ND1234 (Herts, UK)
Just great! I've played it both multi and single, and I have to say that multi player is much more fun.

There's no deep story but there is at least a theme to keep you pushing forwards.

Guns guns guns! Open a crate to find what you think will be your favourite gun for the rest of the game, the right effects, reload speed, target option, clip size, etc. You take on some bad guys and teach them a (briefly) painful & bloody lesson, then open a crate to find what you think will be your favourite gun...

Lots of tongue-in-cheek voice acting, nice nods to genres as disparate as wild west and Japanese b movies, and some great set pieces.

Mix in some of the best multiplayer action you'll find anywhere and this has to be a winner. It hasn't the level of realism of, say, Modern Warfare 2, but for me that's a bonus since I find Borderlands easier to laugh at. I like the cel-shaded graphics and the action is just right.

Perhaps the ending is a bit of a let down, but the journey is just so much fun you can forgive it!

4 out of 5 stars A very good long game!   May 19, 2010
G. P. Maloney (London)
This game was a pleasant surprise. I kept picking it up and putting it back down thinking hmm... seems like the same set up as Farcry 2 and Wolfenstein. Which I thought were pretty bad having played them. This is similar in concept in that you can free roam and fight lots of respawning enemies. You have side quests and a huge world map which is not a linear walkthrough. You get the picture...
But, this game works.
There are loads of things to do and a greta reward system.

Another game for developers to take note of:
Loads and loads of different wepons with lots of different attributes.
Loads of level ups and rewards and experience.
Lots of quests and exploration.

Yes, yes, yes.
It last a long time.
The funky graphics are great I think. Maybe not to everyone's taste.
Oo la la.

To be fair this may annoy players who don't like loads of respawning enemies or like classic linear type shooters.

I would recommend giving it a go though.
Just for all the diffrent guns and types of ammo.

4 out of 5 stars LOVE THIS GAME!   May 2, 2010
This game is amazing! However there are some slight glitches and errors, other than that it is awesome!
