Amazon.co.uk Preview Although they love their sequels as much as any company, Nintendo aren't usually ones to go in for yearly updates. The Mario Party series, developed by Bomberman creators Hudson, is their only example of the phenomena. As such, the series was always guaranteed to make an early appearance on the Wii - and with good reason too since its mix of board game antics and multiplayer mini-games are perfectly suited to the motion control of the Wii remote. Whereas some of the previous sequels have seemed a little unnecessary, this one actually feels like a brand new game. There are six new boards and fourteen different playable characters from amongst the usual Mushroom Kingdom pantheon. There's also a new power-up system replacing the "orbs" of previous games with "candy". These allow characters to transform into different forms to avoid traps and nobble other players, ranging from an airplane, to a bowling ball and a vampire.Of course what's most anticipated about the game is the 70 plus different mini-games, as usual ordered into 1 vs. 3, 2 vs. 2 and free-for-all games. These involve such activities as using the Wii remote to ride a water ski, tightrope walking, lassoing barrels, paddling a rowing boat with a partner, shooting on a target range and being the first to give your pet Chomp a wash. The games and presentation may all seem very cute but as ever the game is an expert at tempting you to cheat and conspire against your fellow players at every opportunity, making this the one family board game you won't mind having an argument over. Product Description
Mario Party 8 is the first Wii instalment of the popular Mario Party series. Like previous Mario Party titles, this is a fantastic party game with your favourite characters from the Mario universe, organised in the spirit of traditional board games but with the addition of several `minigames` to spice up the challenge. Characters roll dice, move on a board and can perform certain interactions on specific situations or via items they collect. At the end of each turn players are involved in humorous simple mini games, that require reflexes, intuition and logic. Mario party 8 on the Wii goes back to the classic formula of four players at most; however Mario Party 8 on the Wii takes full advantage of the Wii remote to inject unique and energetic gameplay in to the Mario Party. - Whole new exciting boards and tons of new mini games to discover
- Uses all features of Wii remote

Too Scratched May 30, 2010 Grumpy (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Game arrived quite promptly. The disc was far too scratched to have been described as good condition. I was surprised it actually played, it did though so I did not have to return it.
Not as good as Mario Party 6-7 May 1, 2010 Mrs. Margaret L. Halicioglu 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I think that this game is ok-ish/ The way how you use the remote in the minigames is great and there is a huge selection too.But when you want to play on your own, the game is just rubbish. The "presenter" makes the game look terible and sometimes the computer players do meaningless thinks which makes the game far too easy. And the gameplay makes the game suitible only for small children/
I think if you have Mario Party 6 or 7 do not buy this game.Even though the game is bad, there is a bit of fun in it for small children but I am sure that they will get bored quite quickly
Fab-tastic January 11, 2010 Dani (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I already own this game but bought it for Niece and Nephew for Christmas. It's great, there are so many different games you can play on this: board games, tic-tac-toe, 4 players 2 players 1 vs 3 etc. All the games are fun and energetic and easy for young children to play too! Def. worth buying!
Love this game! January 3, 2010 lou-kate (England) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I absolutely love this game - my friends and I play it endlessley and quite obsessively! There are loads of different mini games, the multi player nature of the game is great fun, but the game is also fun on your own. Any number of players work really well the the game boards and with the mini games. The mini games are brill, they really are quirky and varied. The graphics and characters are excellent.
We are all quite grown up too (I am not ashamed to admit it, we are in out thirties!) - I can't recommend this game highly enough. A must have for group wii enjoyment.
