Amazon.co.uk Review Pokémon Sapphire and Ruby's updated graphics, with weather effects, amazing sound and more than 200 Pokémon with over 100 new species, make for a welcome evolution in the series. The game has a lot in common with previous Pokémon games Silver, Gold and Crystal. For example, players can choose to be a boy or a girl trainer, an internal clock sets events at certain times and the game's handy-dandy Pokédex helps players keep track of the many stats. Your main goal is still to beat all the Gym Trainers and become the Pokémon Master, and as before you can trade Pokémon via the Link Cable--both Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire include exclusive Pokémon, and you'll find that some species are common in one game and rare in the other. So if you've played the old games, you'll be right at home. But not all is the same. The most obvious change is in the battles themselves. Now that two Pokémon can fight on your side at the same time, you can tag-team them against an enemy by taking advantage of the strengths of your Pokémons while covering their weaknesses. For example, you can now have a water Pokémon watch your fire Pokémon's back. You can also attack more than one Pokémon at a time. A whole new element to the games focuses on how berries are used in battle. And if you collect enough berries, you can take them to a Berry Blender and make a PokéBlock, which is a little super-charged sweet that raises your Pokémon's "Condition" attributes. You can then groom your Pokémon for regional contests and compete for ribbons like "Best of Show", which will unlock additional contests. There's even strategy in how to best use your berries: pick too many and the berry tree will disappear; plant berries, though, and a tree will grow. You can also build a Secret Base in special areas of the game, which you can decorate just like you can your room. Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire have a great multi-player system, too; you can link up to four players for incredible battles. The only downside is that you can't link up with the old Game Boy Color games. --Bryan Karsh

Cool July 11, 2010 I had already played the game before and it was so good I wanted to buy it .
the places you go are so much better and the pokemon you receive are amazing.I would highly recomend it to any of my friends
The price for the used game is pretty good aswell being only £13 but the new ones are so expensive and I know its because they don,t make gameboy games anymore but they could still lower the price
Simply AMAZING!!!! February 24, 2010 The first ever sort of console I got was the handheld gameboy advance and I simply loved it! I was younger then so I didn't mind the not lit screen and the first game I bough with my money was this. My brother already had ruby and said it was good and I preferd the look of saphire so I got that. I played it for hours and hours, trying to beat my brother.
This game has 90 new pokemon which I LOVED!!! These new pokemon where really good and where a lot better than some of the old ones and with a combenation of new and old pokemon throughout the game you wont be disapointed. The graphics have obviously been improved from the gamboy original/colour games and the storyline is like any other for most people but for me, was the best yet! The characters are my favourite so far and everything about this game is simply outstanding. I still have my game and love it and wouldn't give it away for the world as it was part of my childhood but some people are selling there's quite cheap so I'd recommend spending £10 on it as you wont be disappointed with the outcome. All of the pokemon games are alike but this added so many new features (along with ruby) and is better than ds games cause it has class and in my opinion looks better than the terrible ds graphics. So all in all I would rate this 9/10 for the sheer size of the game and the features it brought into the pokemon world.
An awesome RPG September 29, 2007 Fj Harrison 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The ogrinial Pokemon was groundbreaking, this-i would to say "stands up there with Blue and Yellow"-but it doesn't, its worse but still an ace game! My much beloved team are: Koroge (lvl 56), Riakou (lvl 56), Entai (lvl 55), Swampert (lvl 100), Rayquaza (lvl 100), Tyranitar (lvl 63). And i have a soft spot for this game becalse this is THE game that got me to the no.2 pokemon trainer in the whole of England! This game is slow paced at the beggining (with only lvl 5-10 Pokemon around) but it REALLY hots up when you have to fight Wally! Loved this game, i small gem.
A GBA masterpiece April 19, 2007 John Campbell (Leeds, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Pokemon Sapphire is a brilliant game. Great graphics, great story, great new pokemon, great new features! This game is my top GBA game as it is a pokemon game. You dont need cutting edge action scenes for a beautiful game, you just need a good storyline and good creations. The new starter pokemon aren't as good as the previous ones. I recommend mudkip for your first.
I have had this game for nearly 4 years now and I still hum and whistle the fantastic music, the best out of all games. You should play this game on a DS with the backlit screens and you will LOVE the colour!
I love all RPGs games and this is up with the best of them.
