 Good but could be fantastic July 20, 2010

I bought this to provide me with both a stylish iPod dock and DAB capability. The fact that the unit has a CD player was a bonus. Most attractive of all was that it's a Sony (= quality). Sorted.
The reality is that the iPod dock is great but the DAB simply failed to tune and so, after several attempts and an email enquiry to Sony, I was forced to buy an additional aerial. Some will say that isn't Sony's problem and simply the consequence of living in a poor reception area. However...........
I already have a Pure and Goodmans DAB with ipod dock elsewhere in the house and both of these work fine using the basic aerial supplied, suggesting I DO have a decent DAB signal and instead pointing the finger of blame at Sony.
The internal Philex - 27741R - Indoor DAB Aerial aerial is brilliant and so finally I now have DAB through my lovely Sony Micro but it's a shame that it couldn't match the Pure and Goodmans model without a bit of help (and additional cost).

Bought this as I needed a small hi-fi for the kitchen and wanted one in which I could dock my recently acquired iPod. There seemed to be no point in getting one without DAB which I have never previoulsy had but I wanted AM and FM as well. I also wanted a system that could play CDRs. This ticked all the boxes. It was easy to set up and was in use within 10 minutes once unpacked. Even without unwrapping the DAB/FM aerial properly, reception was good. The remote is easy to use. The speakers blast out good quality sound. It is easy to dock the iPod and use it using remote. It is a good old round high quality system for a reasonable price. I wish i had bought it earlier. Highly recommended.

Easy to set up and use.Was a little worried about DAB reception on radio but works perfectly without need for different aeriel. Wish the clock would display time when in stanby mode but that is minor niggle. Fits perfectly on shelf unit and overall we found sound quality to be very good so very pleased with this multi functional product

Bought this to replace my Pure Dab Hi Fi when the CD player developed a fault and also wanted to be able to play and charge my Ipod Classic. This is a good looking, great performing, good sounding, piece of kit. I can easily pick up all Dab stations from where I live (Central Scotland) with the supplied Dab ariel. The other customers who unfortunatly cannot get a good Dab reception I'm afraid that is down to the area where they live or where they are positioning their equipment.
The manual buttons situated at the top are well spaced and convient to use. Unfortunatly the supplied remote control is not very user friendly, a bit fiddly and takes quite a while to get used to but does perform well when you have mastered it. On initial set up I thought the sound was pretty good with the supplied speakers which do look and feel a bit basic. I removed the Sony speakers and replaced these with my much superior 'Pure' wooden speakers, the difference was night and day, the sound was excellent. I would say to people to upgrade the speakers on this unit if they truely want great sound. Yes the unit is very competivly priced and will not beat your Dennon's, Bosse etc but these cost 3 or 4 times the price, change the speakers and you will get a sound quality to match them. Overall this is great system with basic controls for bass, treble etc, but as an earlier reviewer wrote use the DSGX function on the unit to enhance the sound, it really makes a difference. My Ipod Classic when docked in this system looks great and the Cd player, Dab, FM, AM radio is excellent. Yes if this unit malfunctioned I would buy another identical one, no problem.

I previously had the Klipsch iGroove and although it had a good sound quality, it didnt charge my iPod Touch so I decided to invest in this item.
I went into the Sony Centre to see it in person and thought it was fantastic, then I got back and saw the Amazon price (currently £125) and thought that too was great, considering the same product in Sony Centre would have cost £45 more. I got first class delivery and it arrived in no time, It was set up in under 20 minutes and the quick guide that comes in the box soon has you up and running in no time.
Basically if you are thinking of buying a new Hifi, consider buying this one from a very respected manufacturer and a site that you should no doubt trust. It is easy to use, with great sound quality and many features like the DAB/FM/AM Radio, Ipod dock, Audio In and a single remote that easily lets you control everything the player has to offer.
