A couple of niggles! August 27, 2010 Carol I have used heated rollers for years and I must say these are very good, they heat up quickly and do not damage the hair. However, I have a couple of criticisms about this set. The first being there is no compartment for storing the pins, I find this very annoying. The second is the fact that the rollers are not interchangable. I have longish hair and mostly use the large rollers so I purchased more large ones from the manufacturer, but obviously they will only fit in the large holes, so you have to use the original large ones first then wait for the next lot to heat up. Older sets of rollers had rods and the same size holes in all the rollers so you could take the small ones off and put on more large ones if you so wished. However, they do the job they're meant to and work very well. Unfortunately, the switch on my set broke after only six months of use, so I wasn't happy about that but they have a three year guarantee and Amazon very quickly replaced them for me. The manufacturers obviously use very cheap switches.
fantastic! August 25, 2010 Mrs. Rhona K. Liddle (south east, u.k) excellent. great product. used time and time again. despite what the manual says, i have the heat setting on the highest else i feel it doesnt deliver, maybe because i have thick hair? i dont know. easy to use and keeps clean and dust free. just the right amount of curlers and right sizes too. i have thick longish hair so thats a guide. i think if you had very long hair you'd need two sets of these. very fast heating and reliable.
My hair has now regained its bounce August 22, 2010 Ms. R. L. A. Amelan (Wilmslow, Cheshire) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Prior to embarking on the review, it is worth mentioning that I am 54 and have always had rather unmanageable locks. My hair is currently just under shoulder length and is quite fine. I am also no stranger to hair rollers having used them for many years prior to ditching them in favour of blow drying around a decade or so ago.
Anyway, I bought these on recommendation and frankly am sorry that I did not make this purchase years ago. Since the old-fashioned Carmen rollers, things have moved on considerably and these are ceramic and may well prove to be kinder to the hair.
From the outside, the container is compact but I was disappointed to learn that I would have to store the clips and combs separately as there was no "on board" container as was the case with my Carmen rollers. Still the fact that I can now secure the rollers with combs is a plus and it does make insertion rather faster than fumbling with the clips (and finding the right sizes). There is a good range of roller sizes to suit the average person.
The first time I used them, I found that the resultant curls were suitably large and the hair gained instant volume. I then got going with the hairspray/brush and, hay presto, my flaccid haystack metamorphosed into something more glamorous, so much so, that I was asked the same day whether I had been to the hairdressers.
In short, the new set has re-converted me to the heated hair roller. Doubtless, I shall find a suitably convenient home for the clips and combs.
In summary, is it worth purchase? The answer for people like me is yes. I was never much good with hair and these do the trick nicely.
Volume and Curls for Thick, Long Hair August 20, 2010 Miss Rebecca Tungate (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought the Babyliss set of hot rollers because I have very thick, long hair and often curling tongs do not hold curl/volume for very long.
I tried to Babyliss rollers by putting the larger rolls at the top of my head and gradully going smaller as I got nearer the bottom of my head.
Good Points :
1) Enough rollers for a thick head of hair
2) Fast heatup of rollers
3) Come with variety of clips to secure the roller in place
4) Does not burn scalp or fingers if used correctly
5) Ceramic and Ionic Technology
Point to consider:
1) It took me about 2 attempts to get the curls I wanted as I am not experienced in using rollers
Therefore, I would recommend the rollers to anybody as there are the smaller rollers for curls, and the bigger ones to create volume. Definitely better than using curling tongs/curlers.
Great product! July 25, 2010 londonlynie 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this item never having used heated rollers before. I found the rollers very easy to use. The big black clips didn't seem to hold my thin hair but the basic clips worked very well.
On my first attempt, I set the heat very low as I have very thin hair and wasn't sure what heat to use. The curls were lovely but dropped within minutes although I had kept them in for about an hour. The next time I used them, I turned the heat up, used heat protecting/styling spray and left them in for about 3 hours. The curls were great and not only lasted all evening but were very wavey for the next day which looked nice as well.
I really loved this item. I have used curling tongs before and although they work very well on my hair, it needs it be done last thing before leaving the house to make sure it looks neat. More often than not, I end up not having time to do it. With the heated rollers I can put them in a few hours before, get my makeup and everything else ready and just take the rollers out and style just before leaving.
The quality of the product is very good. I supose the only thing that could be improved would be to have a compartment for the clips but this is not too much of a problem for me.
I would definatly recommend.
